To make this alpaca/wool yarn less prone to shrinking, the wool fibers have been "superwashed".  Using shrink-resistant wool is helpful when making garments for babies or children, whose garments are washed more frequently. It can also be helpful for certain garments, such as socks, that require frequent washing.
