You'll love knitting or weaving with this blend of huacaya and suri alpaca! It is worsted-spun, which means the fibers have gone through the extra step of being combed into alignment. This allows for more luster, a tighter twist and encourages better stitch and pattern definition. Grade 3 Certified Sorted (TM) fiber is between 23 and 25.9 microns, still fine enough not to "prickle" when worn next to the skin. "Oooooh!"

Skeins are approx. 7 oz and 700 yards.

Turkish Spindle -- Handcrafted in Maine
What better way to learn how to spin than to start with a spindle? The beauty of the Turkish Spindle is the yarn is wound into a pull-from-the-center ball. You take apart the spindle (photo 2)and voila! You are ready to knit. If you are more adventuresome, you can try plying by spinning in the opposite direction (photo 3). 3-ply Navajo plying works especially well with this spindle.

Spindle comes with a couple ounces of sage green alpaca/merino blend rovings.

Nostepinde -- Scandinavian Ball Winder
This is a handy tool every knitter will want to find in her knitting bag. It's much easier to knit using pull-from-the-center balls -- no more balls rolling under the sofa! But it's not always convenient to set up a swift and mechanical ball winder. Instead, I drape the skein around my knees and begin to wrap the yarn around the nostepinde.

These nostepindes are handcrafted of cherry by a local alpaca farmer.

Latitude 15 -- The Ultimate in Natural Outerwear!
I have to admit I was skeptical when I first heard about these shirts, but as the days get colder, I find I'm once again reluctant to wear anything else while tending the alpacas as the temps nudge Zero.

The Latitude 15 shirt is a base layer pullover for people who love the outdoors but hate being cold. The base layer provides lightweight warmth, heat conductivity and odor management, while it wicks away moisture and reduces electrostatic discharge to keep you more comfortable.

The fabric face is a blend of the finest natural fibers -- silk and baby alpaca. The backing is a blend of Xstatic, a silver fiber providing moisture and odor management, and static elimination resulting in magnetic benefits for circulation and reduced swelling.

Latitude 15 shirts have been engineered and designed by David Stensland of A Craftsman's Touch Alpaca Co. in Kittery, ME David is one of America's top sweater designers whose credits include Alpaca Fiber Co-op of North America, Polo, Nicklaus, and his own Red Maple Sportswear.

Machine washable; lay flat to dry.

Please specify: Green, Grey, Blue, or Red. I can order sizes XS, S, M, L, XL in all colors.
