Hidden Hill Peruvian Bonhommie
Huacaya - Herdsire
DOB: 7/16/09
Color: White
ARI #31865760
Dam: 118 Peruvian Brietta
Sire: Caligula's Casanova

Introductory Stud Fee: $750

Bonhommie looks like his half-brother, Dually, the 2009 Futurity Champ and MAPACA Color Champion. He has a uniformly fine, dense, well-organized fleece like Dually and he has taken his share of blue ribbons and a purple banner like Dually. But Bonhommie is amazing in his own right. His dam is Hidden Hill Farm's white color champion, Peruvian Brietta, and Brietta is bred to Caligula's Casanova each and every year, with such consistent and elite results. Bonhommie's elder full brother, Brigadier, is working at a customer's farm and his first cria have begun to arrive. Guess what? They have the same fleece we have seen on all of Brietta's Casanova kids. Next, Bonhommie's full sister Brillanta, herself a banner champion, has been retained for Hidden Hill's foundation herd. Bonhommie took second places at both MAPACA and PAOBA in the 2010 spring shows as a juvenile, and we took him out as a yearling to the Big E last year, where he stood first in his class amid serious competition and won the White Male Color Champion honors. At NAAS he took the blue in a very competitive Yearling Bred and Owned Class with ease.

Bonhommie finally got a little of Brietta's colorful heritage - he has a fawn spot just below his muzzle. We have little doubt that he can produce color if bred to it!

As a Certified Sorter, the biggest compliment I could pay Bonhommie is to say, "This guy has the STEAK I am looking for -- his fleece is so uniformly fine!" Now, that means a whole lot more to Carol than the sizzle of his blue ribbons and banner!

Bonhommie recently started his breeding career here at Longwoods Alpaca Farm. The introductory stud fee will be $750. Please contact Pam Harwood at Longwoods Alpaca Farm for details, 207-829-4159.

LONGWOODS Sailor's Eliana
Huacaya - Juvenile Female
DOB: 6/28/10
Color: White
ARI #31931076
Dam: Caligula Poseidon's Claudia
Sire: Bravado's Alianza Sailor

$8,500

LONGWOODS Sailor's Eliana is the result of using Certified Sorted(TM) individual sort reports to make an ideal match. Bravado's Alianza Sailor was clearly the best of 3 possible matches for Claudia with his consistent staple length over 3 years, shear weight totals, and especially the uniformity of micron across his blanket.

Despite tip shearing in July, Eliana sheared a Grade 2 Superfine fleece with a 5" staple w/ 6 crimps per inch in April 2011. This is ideal for spinning into a worsted yarn and could yield a profit of $65-70/lb through NAAFP! In addition, a sample of her fleece will grace the Maine Alpaca Association's tile at ITMA 2011 in Barcelona, Spain.

Eliana is the youngest of our '10 crias, but weighs (and sheared) the most. She is conformationally correct with an excellent bite. Eliana's dam, Claudia, is easy to breed, easy to birth (usually unattended) and has plenty of milk to support her crias -- all bode well for a long and successful breeding career for her daughter.

Bravado's Alianza Sailor won the white male color championship at the Alpaca Maturity show in 2010 and had skin biopsies evaluated by both Dr. Norm Evans and Dr. Jim Watts:
====Follicles per sq. mm==S/P Ratio=
Watts -- 38.4 -- 8.4
Evans -- 46.5 -- 9.14

They were both impressed by his lack of medulation.

Eliana's medical, fiber and sort records are available on request.

New breeders will receive an alpaca handling "Starter Kit" (Zephyr halter, herding wand, catch rope and Marty McGee Bennett's fantastic book, "CameliDynamics"). Experienced breeders will receive a $100 gift certificate to the CameliDynamics Store.

Financing available: Terms for purchase are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and 1 year fiber sorting services for Eliana and any other alpacas purchased in 2011 from Longwoods Alpacas. LONGWOODS Casseopeia
Huacaya - Bred female
DOB: 8/7/09
Color: White
ARI #30330634
Dam: SL April Showers
Sire: Hearns

$5,500

Another little princess out of April! Casseopeia is a fine-boned girl with a very strong stature. Her Inca's Ransom and PPPeruvian Inca lineages provide her with LOTS of exceptionally fine, yet dense fiber. In fact, her fleece can be shaken like a rug it is so dense! With her 3.75" staple length and high frequency, low amplitude "zipper crimp", we are having it spun into lots of lofty-style roving. Cassie does have long fine primary fibers which we are looking to breed out in the next generation by breeding her to KF Peruvian Pegasus. This first cria is due June 2011.

New breeders will receive an alpaca handling "Starter Kit" that includes a Zephyr halter, herding wand, catch rope and Marty McGee Bennett's fantastic book, "CameliDynamics". Experienced breeders will receive a $100 gift certificate to the CameliDynamics Store.

Financing available: Terms for purchase are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and 1 year fiber sorting services for Casseopeia and any other alpacas purchased from Longwoods Alpacas, Upper Farm Alpacas or Andes Alpacas in 2010

LONGWOODS Danae
Huacaya - maiden
DOB:7/8/09
Color: Light Fawn
ARI #31544986
Dam: LONGWOODS Alice Allegra
Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph

$5,000

That Altiplano Gold "look" keeps running down through succeeding generations -- his grumbly talkativeness does, too. Sweet Danae has her dam's density and her sire's solid bone, crimp, and gentle personality.

Danae comes from a line of easy breeders and birthers, things we all appreciate! She will be ready to breed in the spring of 2011, and will fit nicely into a "pick your own" starter package of proven female, maiden and male companion.

Betsy's Late Summer Morning
Huacaya - Proven Female
DOB:8/23/07
Color: Light Fawn
ARI #30330597
Dam: SL April Showers
Sire: HDF Accoyo Pistol Pete

$6,500

Ahhh, my sweet princess! Betsy was born on a late summer morning a few days before I bought her mama, April. Her being a much desired girl (we were 4 for 4 boys in '07) sealed the deal! Unlike her skinny-minnie mama, Betsy has her sire, Petey's, solid build and excellent conformation. Like April, her fiber isn't very crimpy, but there's an awful lot of it! Even as a 9-month cria, Betsy sheared over 6 lbs. In '11 she sheared over 7.2 lbs, 4.6 lbs. of which was grade WL3 blanket.

Betsy comes from a line of females that are easy birthers with lots of milk, which bodes well for her breeding career! She came through a "textbook" labor and delivery in 2010, and unlike many first-timers, she stood stock still for the few minutes that it took her cria, LONGWOODS Eustis , to get the hang of nursing. Triumph's bold crimp and long staples have combined with Betsy's density and fineness in this fine male.

Betsy comes with a 7-day live-birth guarantee and a breedback to any stud fully owned by Longwoods Alpacas.

Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and fiber sorting services for Betsy and her cria in 2011.

SA Peruvian Apollo's Vesuvius
Huacaya - Proven Herdsire
DOB: 4/29/06
Color: Medium Fawn
ARI #30556157
Dam: Lightfoot's Virginia
Sire: Royal Peruvian Apollo

Stud Fee: $800

SA Peruvian Apollo's Vesuvius of Alpacas of York, is standing stud at Longwoods Alpacas until June 2012. "Suvi" is a big, gorgeous full Peruvian male with commanding presence out of a great line--Peruvian Apollo, Royal Fawn and Peruvian Bueno to name a few. He looks just like his champion sire, Apollo, and has a very gentle disposition. My ladies love him -- and yours will too! Suvi's first cria have hit the ground and their owners are thrilled! First, a medium fawn female that just shines like spun sugar, next a dark brown male with black points out of a dark silver grey dam (and his sire's distinctive face) and a black and snow white male that was all but 24 pounds at birth--again, very exciting!

Vesuvius has proven Peruvian bloodlines and will add bone, size and density to your female. Fiber was 18 microns at first shearing and has excellent expression of crimp and locks, density and coverage. I picked him to build on the fantastic fleece characteristics, bone and density our herdsire, TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph, has stamped on my herd. Those who know me know I am all about building a conformationally sound herd with uniformity of grade across the fleece and fiber that is suitable for the commercial fiber industry, i.e. NO HAIRY HALOS! Vesuvius promises to do that and more for my herd -- call me now to arrange for him to do the same for yours.

Multiple breeding and small farm discounts available. I am offering a limited number of $800 drive-bys/mobile "Hot Fun in the Summertime" breedings. (I'll even meet you half way!)

Riverview's Rachel
Huacaya - bred female
DOB: 10/2/00
Color: Medium Fawn
ARI #824234
Dam: Onyx Frost's Frosty Miss, True Black, ARI #801658
Sire: Wilpaca's Eduardo,Beige, ARI #182187

Foundation Stock

Riverview's Rachel has been described as "the closest alpaca to a vicuna that I've ever seen" by one established breeder. Her fiber stats back that up, as even at 9 years old she has retained her uniformity and fineness -- they've hardly budged since she was tested in 2004 -- exactly what we are looking for to give our breeding program a jumpstart.

Rachel is bred to SA Peruvian Apollo's Vesuvius for a late summer 2011 cria. Suvi's strong bone and longer staple will complement Rachel's fineness. Her crias tend to be a shade or so lighter than the sire, except when bred to TB, she threw TB and when bred to WH, she threw WH. I have had a chance to get my hands on her son, Arcturus (photo 3), by Coyo Destini, and can confirm that even though she is fairly short-stapled, her offspring benefit handsomely from a long-stapled, dense and crimpy sire!

Rachel is another one of those statuesque moms who deliver 20+ lb. crias with aplomb. She's a good milker and attentive mom, all of which bode well for her offspring, male and female alike!

LONGWOODS Christopher Columbus
Huacaya -- Gelded male
DOB: 10/13/08
Color: Light Fawn
ARI #: 31878616
Dam: Caligula Poseidon's Claudia
Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph

$850

Born on Columbus day, our Christopher completes the "trifecta" of males out of Caligula Poseidon's Claudia by TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph. While a medium fawn spot on his topknot differentiates Christopher from his older brothers, I fully expect his fiber to continue to match theirs for its uniformly long-staples and bold crimp. His '09 blanket fleece was Grade 2 (20 - 22.9u) and his neck was Grade 4 (26 - 28.9u). With only 6 1/2 months growth both blanket and neck were already 5" and ideal for worsted spinning into NAAFP yarn and socks which I sell at the farmers market. His 2010 fleece may be too long for commercial processing this year, but it will be a handspinner's dream for its uniformity and lack of strong primaries.

Christopher was gelded in October 2010

LONGWOODS Cadbury Cream
Huacaya -- bred female
DOB: 8/6/08
Color: Medium Brown and White Pattern
ARI#: 30898592
Dam: Heidi Ho
Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph

$9,500 Easy breeder with cria at side

“Mom, Cadbury Cream is the coolest alpaca I’ve ever seen.” -- said Charlie when he called to report in while we were on vacation. 25.6 lbs. at birth, delivered with no one in attendance -- wow! And now we have the joy of offering her with a "mini me" male cria at side, Longwoods Fry's Chocolate Cream (a candy bar made by Cadbury's in the UK).

She was so ready to be a mama that she stood patiently while last year's crias attempted to nurse off of her. After a picture perfect delivery, Fry was up and nursing lustily in no time. Cadbury knew just what to do. She comes with a rebreeding to any fully owned or leased stud at Longwoods Alpacas.

Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and 1 year fiber sorting services for Cadbury and any other alpacas purchased from Longwoods Alpacas, Upper Farm Alpacas or Andes Alpacas in 2011.

ARI #: 31544993
Dam: Magnificent Maggie
Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph

Another uneventful delivery by Maggie! Just like his older brothers, Acadia and Baxter, LONGWOODS Camden was a rough and tumble cria, who drove the girls nuts. He has strong conformation, a gorgeous head, an excellent bite, delightful disposition, and lots of high amplitude, low frequency crimp, just like his papa, Triumph. I'm really pleased to see his suri genes are keeping the Accoyo halo at bay, too! Camden is turning out to be a good PR boy, too, as he's patient with visitors who love to stroke his glorious fiber.

Huacaya -- Open, Proven female
DOB: 4/1/2002
ARI #: 845301
Color: White
Dam: Rudbeckia
Sire: MA Ivanhoe

7,500

SL April Showers joined our herd in September 2007. She was underconditioned when she arrived, due to complications following the passing of her previous owner, yet she continued to nurse her cria-at-side, Betsy's Late Summer Morning and held her new pregnancy. She is a very protective mother, and to date has borne 3 female and 1 male crias!

In early August 2008, while we were on vacation, she delivered LONGWOODS Casseopeia, a 19 lb female by Hearns of the Upper Farm. We have waited to rebreed April to allow her to regain better condition, and the plan has worked beautifully. April will be ready to breed in Spring 2011. She is fine-boned, short-stapled, and extremely dense with an AFD of 26, so I'm looking to match her with Longwoods Benton, a 3 year old Triumph son (and Poseidon grandson) who exhibits heavy bone and longer staple length.

Financing available: Terms for purchase are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale.

April comes with a 7-day live-birth guarantee. What a treat we have in LONGWOODS Aucocisco, naturally nicknamed "Casper". Born on Halloween weighing 18.8 lbs., he reached 100 lbs. at 9 months despite being a fall cria. Casper has inherited both Claudia and Triumph's calm nature, coloring, strong stature and solid conformation. His dense fiber is bright, with well-defined staples and high amplitude, low frequency crimp. Full coverage means no kemp on this boy, from his gorgeous head to his toes! Casper offers Accoyo genetics from both sides, claiming Victor's Vaccoyo and Poseidon as grandsires. Longwoods Alpacas retains two breedings to this solid macho. Once Casper has cria on the ground his sales price will go up, so call now to schedule an appointment to see for yourself how he will enhance your breeding program.

Casper began his breeding career by settling his first 2 females on their first breeding. They were patient while he enthusiastically figured it out. ARI #: 30330580
Dam: Altiplano Gold's Peruvian Dreamer ARI #803502
Sire: Pinnacle ARI #832916

$13,500

Fondly known as "Ashoo", this little gem had the nicest fleece of any cria born on our farm. From the beginning her bundles were defined and crimpy -- just what we are looking for! Until Ashoo, Dreamer had delivered only males, but bred to Pinnacle, who is known for the quality and quantity of his female cria, we can see the future of our breeding program -- it is as bright as Ashoo's fleece!

Ashoo was bred to our multi-award winning herdsire, TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph and delivered a physically perfect, white, 16.4 lb. male. I blamed myself for his loss, as he was partially delivered when I found her, but he died within minutes of delivery. We rebred Ashoo to Triumph and were thrilled by the arrival of LONGWOODS Danae in early July 2009.

We have bred Ashoo to Triumph's son, LONGWOODS Aucocisco (aka Casper) for a July 2011 cria. I have been wanting to get these two together since they were born! Her crimp and density with his staple length and coverage. Both have excellent conformation and dispositions. What a powerful combination of genes to add to your herd!

Pondview's Annalee, Our Herd's Guardian Llama
Most farms have either Livestock Guardian Dogs or Llamas to guard their livestock. There are pros and cons with either choice, but we decided a llama better fit our needs, and Annalee has more than lived up to our expectations.

Annalee greets all newcomers to the barn, keeps the peace within the herd, watches over the crias, and sounds the alarm when anything out of the ordinary catches her attention.

Caligula Poseidon's Claudia

Color: White
ARI #1452686
Dam: Heidi Ho, Medium Fawn, ARI# 801389
Sire: Caligula's Accoyo Poseidon, White, ARI# 820499

Now that Claudia has given us a daughter, I am sticking to my original plan of placing foundation females on the market once they've replaced themselves. Claudia has given me 3 males by Triumph -- Aucocisco (aka Casper) has 2 cria on the ground, Benton has just settled his first female, and Christopher (gelded due to a leg injury). Claudia is in her prime, and this is an excellent opportunity to add Caligula/Poseidon genetics to your breeding program.

Claudia is absolutely Poseidon's offspring: solid-boned, statuesque, great coverage with crimpy, nicely bundled fiber. Even after 4 cria, her fiber remains fine enough for commercial production! Claudia has a very gentle personality and is easily handled, even when she is pregnant. Like her dam, she is an easy breeder, and her pregnancies and deliveries have been uneventful.

We held Claudia over for a spring 2009 breeding to Bravado's Alianza Sailor of Sixth Day Farm. Though I had the choice of 3 stunning males, I chose Sailor based in part on his Sort Records -- his fiber was a better match with hers. At the Maturity in March 2010, Sailor took the Color Championship. This combination of outstanding Accoyo and Alianza bloodlines kicked our breeding program up a few notches in LONGWOODS Sailor's Eliana Lobo, born June 26, 2010.

My plan is to hold Claudia over for a spring 2011 breeding to K-2, an outstanding full Alianza male, of Hidden Hill Farm.

Claudia comes with a 7-day live-birth guarantee.

Financing available: Terms are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Included are 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and 1 year of fiber sorting services for Claudia and her cria.

Magnificent Maggie
Huacaya - bred female
DOB: 9/3/01
Color: Medium Brown
ARI # 30363687
Dam: Pucusana
Sire: Senkato de Bolivia

$10,000 with male cria at side, until weaned

Magnificent Maggie is a gorgeous Huacaya out of 2 spectacular Suris. She'll never throw a suri, just huacayas with "hybrid vigor" and lots of fine, silky fleece, things Huacaya breeders get excited about!

Maggie is an attentive and patient mother, with lots of milk, something her cria, Seahorse, Acadia, Baxter, Camden, and now Denali -- a GIRL! -- have benefited from. When you look out in the pasture, it's easy to tell which ones are Maggie's offspring. The boys all have tons of fabulous fiber that I've had made into fine knitting yarn, socks, and rugs for sale at the farmers markets. I expect no less from Denali (photo 2).

Maggie's male cria at side, Longwoods Exeter, is a handsome fawn male by Longwoods Aucocisco.

Maggie is now bred to LONGWOODS Benton, the next generation of the esteemed Accoyo Victor line.

Heidi Ho
Huacaya - bred female
DOB: 11/14/97
Color: Medium Fawn
ARI #801389
Dam: Streaker's Wild Flower, True Black with White markings
Sire: Peruvian Bulto G201, White

19,000

Heidi Ho is a large medium fawn female with the most lovely light grey face. She breeds easily, is a superior mother and has lots of milk. Heidi delivers nice healthy crias, two of which were color champions -- one fawn and the other brown. One of her female cria's first crias took color champion, 1st, or 2nd in every show she entered. None of her later cria have been shown, but we are confident they would hold their own in the ring, given their exemplary conformation, bite and quality of fiber. Heidi has been the ideal foundation female, not only for us, but also her previous owners: she has delivered crias sired by some truly exceptional males, including Poseidon and Dom Lucilio!

You can imagine how excited we were to greet her next 3 crias: Caligula Poseidon's Claudia, a white female born in mid-August 2004 out of Poseidon, LONGWOODS Chococoa, a medium brown female born in early August 2005 out of SA Peruvian Choco, and LONGWOODS Caitlin's Alana a Rose Grey female born in early August 2006 out of A2A Coppersmith. Heidi's 2007 cria out of Triumph, and presented to her current owners, is a stunning medium fawn male, LONGWOODS Bear. We liked that combination so much that she was rebred to Triumph and easily delivered a 25 lb female cria, LONGWOODS Cadbury Creme, in early August 2008. Because these crias usually arrive while we are on vacation, we decided to hold her over for a spring rebreeding for a Spring 2010 cria. We have now to rebred her to Triumph, and she continues to spit off. She is such an easy breeder!

Heidi's sire, Peruvian Bulto (photo 4) is a large Import Peruvian Herdsire with an extra dense fleece. Very impressive!
