| SA Peruvian Apollo's Vesuvius |
Huacaya - Proven Herdsire
DOB: 4/29/06
Color: Medium Fawn
ARI #30556157
Dam: Lightfoot's Virginia
Sire: Royal Peruvian Apollo
Stud Fee: $800
SA Peruvian Apollo's Vesuvius of Alpacas of York, is standing stud at Longwoods Alpacas until June 2012. "Suvi" is a big, gorgeous full Peruvian male with commanding presence out of a great line--Peruvian Apollo, Royal Fawn and Peruvian Bueno to name a few. He looks just like his champion sire, Apollo, and has a very gentle disposition. My ladies love him -- and yours will too! Suvi's first cria have hit the ground and their owners are thrilled! First, a medium fawn female that just shines like spun sugar, next a dark brown male with black points out of a dark silver grey dam (and his sire's distinctive face) and a black and snow white male that was all but 24 pounds at birth--again, very exciting!
Vesuvius has proven Peruvian bloodlines and will add bone, size and density to your female. Fiber was 18 microns at first shearing and has excellent expression of crimp and locks, density and coverage. I picked him to build on the fantastic fleece characteristics, bone and density our herdsire, TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph, has stamped on my herd. Those who know me know I am all about building a conformationally sound herd with uniformity of grade across the fleece and fiber that is suitable for the commercial fiber industry, i.e. NO HAIRY HALOS! Vesuvius promises to do that and more for my herd -- call me now to arrange for him to do the same for yours.
Multiple breeding and small farm discounts available. I am offering a limited number of $800 drive-bys/mobile "Hot Fun in the Summertime" breedings. (I'll even meet you half way!)

Riverview's Rachel has been described as "the closest alpaca to a vicuna that I've ever seen" by one established breeder. Her fiber stats back that up, as even at 9 years old she has retained her uniformity and fineness -- they've hardly budged since she was tested in 2004 -- exactly what we are looking for to give our breeding program a jumpstart.
We will be breeding her in June to one of the outstanding studs at Hidden Hill Farm. While Rachel isn't for sale, if you want to purchase her next cria, male or female, sight unseen, for $8,000, you can help us decide which stud is the lucky one. We will breed her in late May or early June, so no dawdling on this one!
Her crias tend to be a shade or so lighter than the sire, except when bred to TB, she threw TB and when bred to WH, she threw WH. I have had a chance to get my hands on her son, Arcturus (photo 3), by Coyo Destini, and can confirm that even though she is fairly short-stapled, her offspring benefit handsomely from a long-stapled, dense and crimpy sire!
Rachel is another one of those statuesque moms who deliver 20+ lb. crias with aplomb. She's a good milker and attentive mom, all of which bode well for her offspring, male and female alike!

| LONGWOODS Christopher Columbus |
Huacaya -- Intact, yearling male
DOB: 10/13/08
Color: Light Fawn
ARI #: 31878616
Dam: Caligula Poseidon's Claudia
Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph
$850
Born on Columbus day, our Christopher completes the "trifecta" of males out of Caligula Poseidon's Claudia by TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph. While a medium fawn spot on his topknot differentiates Christopher from his older brothers, I fully expect his fiber to continue to match theirs for its uniformly long-staples and bold crimp. His '09 blanket fleece was Grade 2 (20 - 22.9u) and his neck was Grade 4 (26 - 28.9u). With only 6 1/2 months growth both blanket and neck were already 5" and ideal for worsted spinning into NAAFP yarn and socks which I sell at the farmers market. His 2010 fleece may be too long for commercial processing this year, but it will be a handspinner's dream for its uniformity and lack of strong primaries. | click for larger image

Sire: TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph
$6,000 Ready to Breed!
“Mom, Cadbury Cream is the coolest alpaca I’ve ever seen.” -- said Charlie when he called to report in while we were on vacation. Caddy is mostly medium brown, with a brown head, ears, socks, blanket, and a brown tail with a white ring. Her topknot, neck, and 4 legs are white. She has a few brown spots, well balanced on her chest and neck, with a white spot on her nose.
Cadbury will be ready to breed in the spring 2010 -- we are already looking for suitable males, but if you purchase her before she is bred, then the decision is yours and your breeder ID is added to the cria's name.
New breeders will receive an alpaca handling "Starter Kit" that includes a Zephyr halter, herding wand, catch rope and Marty McGee Bennett's fantastic book, "CameliDynamics". Experienced breeders will receive a $100 gift certificate to the CameliDynamics Store.
Financing available: Terms for purchase are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale, free transport within New England, and 1 year fiber sorting services for Cadbury and any other alpacas purchased from Longwoods Alpacas, Upper Farm Alpacas or Andes Alpacas in 2010. Another uneventful delivery by Maggie! Just like his older brothers, Acadia and Baxter, LONGWOODS Camden was a rough and tumble cria, who drove the girls nuts. He has strong conformation, a gorgeous head, an excellent bite, delightful disposition, and lots of high amplitude, low frequency crimp, just like his papa, Triumph. I'm really pleased to see his suri genes are keeping the Accoyo halo at bay, too! Camden is turning out to be a good PR boy, too, as he's patient with visitors who love to stroke his glorious fiber.
Like all our young males, Camden is offered at a non-breeder price to make him as appealing to breeders as to fiber enthusiasts. Longwoods Alpacas reserves two breedings to this fine male.

Huacaya -- Open, Proven female
DOB: 4/1/2002
ARI #: 845301
Color: White
Dam: Rudbeckia
Sire: MA Ivanhoe
12,500 with Darude's Sandstorm, her male cria at side
SL April Showers joined our herd in September 2007. She was underconditioned when she arrived, due to complications following the passing of her previous owner, yet she continued to nurse her cria-at-side, Betsy's LAte Summer Morning and held her new pregnancy. She is a very protective mother, and to date has borne 3 female and 1 male crias!
In early August 2008, while we were on vacation, she delivered LONGWOODS Casseopeia, a 19 lb female out of Hearns of the Upper Farm. We are waiting to rebreed April to our multi-award winning herdsire, TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph, for a spring 2011 cria -- by holding her over this winter we are getting all our girls onto a spring delivery schedule. We are looking for Triumph's heavier bone and longer staple length to add to April's density.
Financing available: Terms for purchase are one third down, with the balance paid over one year, interest free. Also, we offer 2 months free board after the sale.
April comes with a 7-day live-birth guarantee. New breeders will receive an alpaca handling "Starter Kit" that includes a Zephyr halter, herding wand, catch rope and Marty McGee Bennett's fantastic book, "CameliDynamics". What a treat we have in LONGWOODS Aucocisco, naturally nicknamed "Casper". Born on Halloween weighing 18.8 lbs., he reached 100 lbs. at 9 months despite being a fall cria. Casper has inherited both Claudia and Triumph's calm nature, coloring, strong stature and solid conformation. His dense fiber is bright, with well-defined staples and high amplitude, low frequency crimp. Full coverage means no kemp on this boy, from his gorgeous head to his toes! Casper offers Accoyo genetics from both sides, claiming Victor's Vaccoyo and Poseidon as grandsires. Longwoods Alpacas retains two breedings to this solid macho. Once Casper has cria on the ground his sales price will go up, so call now to schedule an appointment to see for yourself how he will enhance your breeding program.
Casper has begun his breeding career by settling his first 2 females on their first breeding. They were patient while he enthusiastically figured it out. Sire: Pinnacle ARI #832916
$13,500 -- with female cria at side, until weaned
Fondly known as "Ashoo", this little gem had the nicest fleece of any cria born on our farm. From the beginning her bundles were defined and crimpy -- just what we are looking for! Until Ashoo, Dreamer had delivered only males, but bred to Pinnacle, who is known for the quality and quantity of his female cria, we can see the future of our breeding program -- it is as bright as Ashoo's fleece!
Ashoo was bred to our multi-award winning herdsire, TELL Vaccoyo's Triumph and delivered a physically perfect, white, 16.4 lb. male. I blame myself for his loss, as he was partially delivered when I found her, but he died within minutes of delivery. We rebred Ashoo to Triumph and are thrilled by the arrival of LONGWOODS Danae in early July.
We have bred Ashoo to Triumph's son, LONGWOODS Aucocisco (aka Casper) for a July 2010 cria. I have been wanting to get these two together since they were born! Her crimp and density with his staple length and coverage. Both have excellent conformation and dispositions. What a powerful combination of genes to add to your herd!

Caligula Poseidon's Claudia (photo 1) is a 1/2 Accoyo beauty with a uniformly dense, crimpy fleece (photo 4), as you'd expect from a Poseidon daughter. She was born weighing 23 lbs and never looked back. Claudia has produced three outstanding males by TELL Vaccoyo Triumph, our multi-award winning stud. She is currently bred to Bravado's Alianza Sailor (photo 2), a macho who has had skin biopsies evaluated by both Dr. Norm Evans and Dr. Jim Watts
====Follicles per sq. mm==S/P Ratio=
Watts....... 38.4.............. 8.4
Evans....... 46.5 .............9.14
The truly amazing thing about the follicle counts and S/P ratios is that Sailor had only 29% medullation of primary fibers and ZERO medullation in his secondary fibers. Both Dr. Watts and Dr. Evans were amazed by this. In his report to us Dr. Watts put this bold notation: "Please note: the ability of this animal to avoid fibre medullation may be an important genetic finding." !!
There must be something to these numbers as Sailor just took blue in his class at the Maturity, and then bested 3 other outstanding males, including his sire, for the only Color Championship at that show. Now I'm REALLY hoping for a male to kick our breeding program up a few more notches!
Claudia's dam, Heidi Ho, is a superior mother, with plenty of milk, and consistently produces healthy crias with easy deliveries, which she has passed on to Claudia, and Claudia's sire, Caligula's Accoyo Poseidon (photo 3), is a multi-award winning herdsire famous for his dense, lustrous white fleece with fine crimp, uniformity and character. His 3-year-old fleece actually outscored his 2-year-old fleece at the AOBA National Show in June 2003. Poseidon's fleece was color champion, judge's choice, best crimp, Fiber Co-op choice, and breeder's choice in that show. This champion is known for his regal presence, perfect head, and strong physical frame, and in Claudia we see one lovely chip off the old block.

Magnificent Maggie is a gorgeous Huacaya out of 2 spectacular Suris. She'll never throw a suri, just huacayas with "hybrid vigor" and lots of fine, silky fleece, things Huacaya breeders get excited about!
Maggie is an attentive and patient mother, with lots of milk, something her cria, Seahorse, Acadia, Baxter, Camden, and now Denali -- a GIRL! -- have benefited from. When you look out in the pasture, it's easy to tell which ones are Maggie's offspring. The boys all have tons of fabulous fiber that I've had made into fine knitting yarn, socks, and rugs for sale at the farmers markets. I expect no less from Denali (photo 2).
Maggie is now bred to LONGWOODS Aucocisco (photo 3), the next generation of the esteemed Accoyo Victor line.

Heidi Ho is a large medium fawn female with the most lovely light grey face. She breeds easily, is a superior mother and has lots of milk. Heidi delivers nice healthy crias, two of which were color champions -- one fawn and the other brown. One of her female cria's first crias took color champion, 1st, or 2nd in every show she entered. None of her later cria have been shown, but we are confident they would hold their own in the ring, given their exemplary conformation, bite and quality of fiber. Heidi has been the ideal foundation female, not only for us, but also her previous owners: she has delivered crias sired by some truly exceptional males, including Poseidon and Dom Lucilio!
You can imagine how excited we were to greet her next 3 crias: Caligula Poseidon's Claudia, a white female born in mid-August 2004 out of Poseidon, LONGWOODS Chococoa, a medium brown female born in early August 2005 out of SA Peruvian Choco, and LONGWOODS Caitlin's Alana a Rose Grey female born in early August 2006 out of A2A Coppersmith. Heidi's 2007 cria out of Triumph, and presented to her current owners, is a stunning medium fawn male, LONGWOODS Bear. We liked that combination so much that she was rebred to Triumph and easily delivered a 25 lb female cria, LONGWOODS Cadbury Creme, in early August 2008. Because these crias usually arrive while we are on vacation, we decided to hold her over for a spring rebreeding for a Spring 2010 cria. We have now to rebred her to Triumph, and she continues to spit off. She is such an easy breeder!
Heidi's sire, Peruvian Bulto (photo 4) is a large Import Peruvian Herdsire with an extra dense fleece. Very impressive!
